The BCC voted to approve creation of the Lake Avalon Preservation District in their June 4 meeting.
This designation provides the Lake Avalon Rural Settlement with additional protections against annexation by local municipalities. While annexation of a Rural Settlement parcel is still possible, it now requires a higher level of approval by the Board of County Commissioners. This same level of approval is also now required for a parcel to be removed from the Rural Settlement.
