Welcome Home

History

Established in 1924 as Avalon Groves, the Lake Avalon Community now encompasses over 3000 acres of rural residential and agricultural land in West Orange County and Southeast Lake County, Florida.

In recognition of the value of preserving rural communities, Orange County created the Rural Settlement designation as part of the 1991 Comprehensive Plan. In 2004, the Lake Avalon Rural Settlement was created and added to the Comprehensive Plan.

Community

Over 250 residents and property owners share an affinity for a rural and agricultural lifestyle and the community that brings us together.
Horses and cows.
Orange groves and hay fields.
Dirt roads, wildlife and nature.
Family and neighbors.

Activism

In 2004, Orange County created the Lake Avalon Rural Settlement to limit the development in, and preserve the rural character of, this community. In 2024 the county added another layer of protection to the area by creating the Lake Avalon Preservation District.

We are dedicated to monitoring development and regulatory issues that could negatively impact the integrity of our Rural Settlement and advocating for the preservation of rural communities across Orange County.

The Lake Avalon Community includes the residents and property owners in the Lake Avalon Rural Settlement & Preservation District and those in the adjacent rural areas in western Orange County, and southeastern Lake County, Florida.

The Avalon Home & Property Owners Association serves as a voice and resource for this community.
