Three Characters ~ One Community

Lake Avalon Community

The Lake Avalon Community is a “hidden gem” of a rural community nestled on the western edge of Orange County. It has a long history in the area beginning in the 1920s with the establishment of the 4000 acre Lake Avalon Groves orange grove development.

Many of the orange trees are now gone, and the community is surrounded by residential and commercial development, but the residents of Lake Avalon still enjoy the blessings of a rural lifestyle.

Lake Avalon Rural Settlement & Preservation District

The Lake Avalon Rural Settlement (LARS) is an Orange County Comprehensive Plan designation that limits development within the settlement boundaries to uses compatible with a rural and/or agricultural lifestyle. The LARS was created in 2004 by the Orange County Board of Commissioners and is one of twenty-two rural settlements in the county.

In 2024, Orange County created the Lake Avalon Preservation District in order to control annexation of LARS properties by nearby municipalities.

Avalon Home & Property Owners Association

The Avalon Home & Property Owners Association (AHPOA) is a voluntary association of the residents and property owners in the Lake Avalon Community.

The primary purpose of the AHPOA is to keep the members informed about issues impacting the rural settlement, and act as the voice of the members for development, land-use, and zoning concerns in the area.
