For LARS residents, Recycling and Yard Waste will be picked up on Tuesdays, and Garbage and Large Items will be picked up on Wednesdays. On September 18, 1924, J.P. Holbrook, the Secretary of the Orlando Orange Grove Company, recorded the subdivision plat for Lake Avalon and Lake Avalon Groves with Orange County. We have adopted this date as the official “birthdate” of our community. - [Lake Avalon Preservation District Approved by BCC](https://ahpoa.org/lake-avalon-preservation-district-approved-by-bcc/): The BCC voted to approve creation of the Lake Avalon Preservation District in their June 4 meeting. This designation provides the Lake Avalon Rural Settlement with additional protections against annexation by local municipalities. While annexation of a Rural Settlement parcel is still possible, it now requires a higher level of approval by the Board of County Commissioners. This same level of approval is also now required for a parcel to be removed from the Rural Settlement.
